Trainee Assessment

What we do: We are accredited assessors with 3 Sector Skills Councils (SSCs) - Automotive, Capital Goods and Construction. We provide assessment services currently to the following trades – Welder, Machinist, Auto Sales. We would be offering assessment services to other Sector Skill Councils and trades in the coming months.

What are our Assessment principles?

• Our Assessment tools and methodologies are built on the principles of reliability and validity. Our constant effort is to create assessments which are
a. Reliable – A reliable assessment system consistently achieve the same results with the same (or similar) cohort of students.
b. Valid: A valid assessment system is one which measures what it is intended to measure

• Within these two basic principles, we are constantly working to ensure that our assessments are proper, useful , feasible and accurate

What are our Assessment methodologies and tools?

• Prima believes its assessment tools and methodologies are not merely to be used for measuring skill mastery, but also for improving student learning, teacher instruction, helping administrators allocate resources and policy makers evaluate efficacy of programs. We use all three forms of assessment
a. Diagnostic Assessment – Assessing student's knowledge and skills prior to training
b. Formative Assessment - Assessing student's performance during training
c. Summative Assessment – Assessing student's performance at the end of training

Program Design and Development


i. Content and Program Development – The company is investing in the development of content and programs in line with National Occupational Standards (NOS) guidelines for the key trades in the three sectors. The first batch of programs would be ready by June 2014.

ii. Training of Assessors – The Company has an internal training program for assessors. The Training of Assessors is a 15 day program and contains the following modules
• SSC Assessment Framework, Purpose and Expected Outcomes
• Relevant National Occupation Standards (NOS) , Performance Criteria (PC),
• Prima Assessment Methodologies and Tools
• Conducting Mock Assessments

iii. Training of Trainers - The Training of Trainers Program is a 30 day program offered by Prima to trainers from various skill development companies and contains the following modules
• Pedagogy of Training – how to train target learner segments
• SSC Assessment Framework, Purpose and Expected Outcomes
• Relevant National Occupation Standards (NOS) , Performance Criteria (PC),
• Prima Assessment Methodologies and Tools
• Conducting Mock Assessments
• Domain Training using Prima Content including safety
• Training on related generic soft skills like English, IT, Life Skills

iv. Program Launch Management: Prima supports skill training companies in the launch of the new programs. This involves the following steps
• Need Analysis to determine the demand for the program amongst employers
• Development of Content in line with NOS guidelines
• Training of Trainers
• Design and establishment of training lab
• Support for Launch of Pilot

Technical and Business Consulting – Prima offers the following consulting services


i. Strategy Development/ Policy – Prima works with skill training companies and supports them in developing their business strategy. It works with multi lateral agencies and State Governments in providing inputs for policy making related to skills

ii. Training Institution Development - Prima provides training institution development services in terms of design, establishment and commissioning of training infrastructure (commissioning corresponds to launch of first batch

iii. Program Evaluation and Monitoring – Prima also provides program evaluation and monitoring services for Government skill development scheme implementation.
